Adekola Alao, MD, MRCPsych, FACL is a Professor of Psychiatry at SUNY Upstate Medical University and a practicing psychiatrist. He and his wife Lola founded TMS Restoration Psychiatry in 2016.

Dr. Alao completed his medical schooling at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and his Master’s degree at the University College, London, England. Upon receiving his Masters, his residency was practiced within Oxford University, England in 1996, followed by SUNY Upstate Medical University in 1998. 

As a member of the faculty, he has been involved in the department of Psychiatry at SUNY Upstate Medical University since 1998 and worked as a Polytrauma and Rehabilitation Psychiatrist for 10 years at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. Dr. Alao is also certified by the American College of Sport Medicine (ACSM).   

With over 35 years  ofclinical experience as a physician, he has been named as one of the Best Doctors in United States yearly since 2007. 

He has more than 100 publications and presentations in scientific journals, and he is passionate about mentoring medical students, residents and treating Military Veterans. His clinical interests include Consultation Liaison Psychiatry (he was the founding program director of the fellowship in Psychosomatic medicine at SUNY), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury and Addiction Medicine. He is board certified in Psychiatry, Psychosomatic Medicine, Addiction Medicine and Administrative Psychiatry. Dr. Alao believes in holistic treatment focusing on healing the mind, body and soul and not only with prescription medications.
